Are you constantly thinking about food? Do you finish your meal and think about the next? Do you dwell on things you “shouldn’t” or don’t get to eat?
Long ago when I wanted to be “thin” I was lead to believe that restricting myself from certain foods would lead me to success. But the reality is, as soon as you are told you can’t have something, you crave it and want it even more. Back then, I thought pizza was the enemy. So I never ate it very often. So what happened when I finally caved and went for pizza? I ate 4 or 5 slices. Yes, 4 or 5 slices in one sitting. Could I have eaten more? Absolutely!
Moreover, if you are thinking about that “cheat meal” all week then it will most likely turn in to a binge-fest instead. The fact that you restricted yourself from so many foods all week sets you up to want everything in sight and going overboard. Once you get going, we all know how hard it is to stop.
The most effective nutrition program is one that has you not thinking about food 24 hours a day.
A calmness of knowing that you are able to eat, when you want to eat, and what you want to eat turns in to success for an dieter.
Flexible dieting not only allows you to eat any types of food with great flexibility, but it offers crave free eating, which is a sustainable, long term nutrition plan.
When you aren’t constantly craving or thinking about food, you are able to get on with other important things in your life. This, in turn, creates a healthy relationship with food. Bingo!
Rather than fitting in your exercise and nutrition, flexible dieting enables your training schedule and nutrition regime to fit into your lifestyle, rather than dictating how you lead it. The easier your diet can be the more results that will come from it. Your diet should work for you, not against you.
The faster you can remove restrictions from your diet the more you can remove the cravings. Once you see that you can have everything in moderation and still meet your goals, your lifestyle will be able to follow suit.
