Working out is hard. We all know that, even if we don’t like to admit it. And when you’re trying to balance a full-time job, housekeeping duties, and family life with your workouts…well, the last thing most of us need is another chore on our list of things to do. But working out doesn’t have to be so daunting! It can actually be fun. Let me show you how to start enjoying your workouts.
How to Make Working Out Fun
Working out doesn’t just mean lifting weights and cutting carbs. You can use your imagination to make it less strenuous and more enjoyable.
For example, try taking up an activity that you enjoy, such as Zumba or swing dancing classes.
Instead of running on the treadmill at the gym, take a yoga class and build flexibility while you burn calories.
Or, get outside and try biking, hiking, or swimming to get your heart going.
Like our good friend Elle Woods (for my Legally Blonde fans) once said, exercise releases endorphins! A little bit of movement can keep you happier throughout the day.
You can also get creative with your workouts by incorporating props into them, like hula hoops or light weights.
Mixing up the ways you work out will make it easier to see results and keep yourself excited about exercising.
Fun At-Home Exercise Ideas
One of the biggest barriers for people working out is time. Driving to the gym, working out, and driving back can take hours out of your day. Plus, if it’s stressful it isn’t fun.
If you want to make your at-home workouts fun, try playing around with any children’s toys you have laying around the house.
Or, dance to your favorite music and don’t worry about how silly you look. It’s only for fun!
You can also try to find a workout buddy, whether it be a spouse or friend who has similar fitness goals.
Try doing your workouts on a video call with friends who live out of town. Exercise can be a great way to connect with friends near and far!
Any way you go about trying at-home workouts like this one, it starts by you committing and trying it!
Benefits of Making Exercise Fun
The benefits are two-fold when it comes to working out in fun ways rather than just going to the gym.
Exercise can be social and communal and can be a great way to meet friends or even that special someone.
Exercise can also be creative and give you a chance to express yourself.
For women of any age, exercise provides an opportunity for self-care that is too often neglected in our busy lives. You deserve some time out every day or week to energize your mind and body through exercise, then relax your mind, take care of yourself, and recharge so that you can be your best self every day of the week.
