Some Of My Best Tips To Make Weight Loss More Successful
⚡Try not to view your weight loss as a quick fix. It’s important to be realistic about your goals. Don’t push yourself too hard, otherwise you will likely burn yourself out. When you find a plan that you can actually live with and enjoy, you will be able to follow through long term which is what is going to help you reach your goals. Make your weight loss journey work for you, not against you!
⚡Don’t drink your calories. Liquids are not as filling and are usually very calorie dense. Stick with water or seltzer! Keep in mind a smoothie is not a drink – it’s a meal replacement and can sometimes contain upwards of 1000 calories. Furthermore, don’t be fooled by “healthy” drinks that are loaded with fruits and veggies, as they are also loaded with calories.
⚡Try to incorporate protein with every meal. It will preserve and build as much muscle mass which will keep your metabolism high and help you feeling fuller longer. Example of lean protein are chicken breast, shrimp, fish, tuna fish, cottage cheese, beef, Greek yogurt, protein powder, deli turkey, eggs and egg whites.
⚡Eat your fruits and veggies! Not only do you get a lot of food (think volume!) for a little calories, they are filled with fiber, which will help to keep you feeling fuller longer.
⚡Try to get in some sort of physical activity at least 4 or 5 times a week. Not only is it heart healthy but exercising increases your calorie expenditure. The end goal in weight loss is to burn more calories than you consume.
⚡Stick to simple foods. The less ingredients the less calories the meal will have. Try to fill half your plate with veggies, a quarter with a lean protein (choose from the list above mentioned), and the last quarter of the plate with a starch such as whole grain rice, pasta, toast, quinoa, barley, beans, or potatoes. Add a little fat such as olive oil, cheese, avocado or nuts for a complete balanced meal.
⚡Hydrate! Aim for 64-120 ounces of water a day. It boosts metabolism, and for some helps consume fewer calories overall. There are so many benefits to water which you can read here.
⚡Try to keep healthy food readily prepared. Cut up fruits and veggies, grill chicken breasts, hard boiled eggs, and have some frozen healthy entrees to have on hand. Frozen shrimp, vegetables and berries are also great to keep in your freezer. You will be more likely to eat something more nutritious then grab an unhealthy snack that is easy to consume too much of. Planning ahead is key!
